Vietnamit: Small & delightful Vietnamese resto find

I find the restaurant’s name unique and amusing. Vietnamit. Perhaps a combination of  Vietnamese and the word namit which means delicious in Ilonggo. I was not able to dine in the first time I saw it in Dona Soledad extension in Better Living Subd. where it was tucked away on the side of a building. The parking was full then. But I was able to order through their Instagram for delivery. When their food arrived, I noted that l liked it and considered dining inside their restaurant one of these days. And last weekend, I finally dined in with my family, luckily there were still parking slots left.

I ordered their fresh spring rolls, a fave Vietnamese appetizer of mine. Those plump, rolled rice paper filled with vermicelli noodles, shreds of lettuce and slices of fresh shrimps with peanut sauce on the side. I’m a fan of peanut sauce but their version did not taste like the ordinary peanut sauce to me. This one seems to have leveled up, maybe added other spices that gave it more depth and flavor. I just savored drenching each spring roll with this sauce on every bite.

Then I ordered another favorite, the pomelo salad. Chunks of pink pomelo with juicy shrimps, lettuce and cucumber paired with their sweet vinegar sauce. I liked the combination of sweet and fresh combined with the tangy flavor of the vinegar. They seem to have carefully curated their ingredients and sourced the freshest ones they could find.

Meanwhile, my husband ordered their beef bahn mi. He said it was good while my son had the shrimp curry which they provided some plastic gloves with as we requested. The prawns were a good size and my son did not have a hard time removing the shells. He seems to like this version of curry too .

For dessert, I ordered their handmade coconut ice cream which had this thick consistency. You can really taste the coconut flavor. It also had a generous amount of coconut strips with crushed peanuts for topping.

Overall, it was a good meal despite it being a small space and a bit pricey. The staff was efficient and friendly. I liked the beautiful Vietnamese outfits they wore, one server even had a dragon figure on his attire. It matched the creative interiors of the place especially the colorful lanterns. I would not mind going back here again to celebrate a special occasion. It would be nice to dine in such a creative dining space with sumptuous Vietnamese cuisine with friends.
